Cha-ching! Patrick Mahomes II proposed to longtime girlfriend Brittany Matthews with an engagement ring costing approximately “between $350,000 to $800,000,” Kathryn Money, Brilliant Earth’s SVP of Merchandising & Retail Expansion, tells Life & Style.
The couple has been dating since they were in high school, and the Kansas City Chiefs MVP, 24, officially popped the question on Monday, September 1. The ring perched on the 25-year-old former pro soccer player’s finger is massive.
“Brittany’s stunning and trendy engagement ring from Patrick appears to feature an estimated 8 to 10-carat emerald cut diamond, set on a white gold or platinum diamond-adorned double band,” Kathryn adds.
The sparkler is absolutely stunning and right on trend. Jennifer Lopez, Nikki Bella and Nicola Peltz are just a few celebrities who have similar cut diamond rings. “Elongated diamonds — including emeralds, elongated cushions and ovals — create a flattering look as their shape lengthens the wearer’s finger,” the jewelry expert notes about the popularity.
Patrick and Brittany were ecstatic over their special day. “Ring SZN,” the quarterback wrote on his Instagram Story with a kiss emoji.
The Brittany Lynn Fitness founder gave a little peek into Patrick’s sweet proposal. “This happened yesterday,” Brittany wrote via Instagram with a photo of the spot where her beau got down on one knee. The room, which fittingly overlooked the football field, was filled with white roses and large marquee letters that said, “Will you marry me?”
They later enjoyed a romantic candlelit dinner together. “My heart is so full! I love this man so incredibly much, and today was so, so special!” Brittany gushed. “Couldn’t imagine this day being any more perfect!”
Their romance is extremely precious. Brittany proved to be an immensely supportive girlfriend — and huge Chiefs fan — last season. “I am so beyond proud of this dude and this team, all year it was about battling, amazing comebacks and overcoming an injury, and for that YOU DESERVE THIS,” she wrote after Kansas City’s historic Super Bowl win against the San Francisco 49ers, making it the team’s first victory in 50 years.
