Prince Harry and Meghan Markle broke their silence last night and confirmed they have been evicted from Frogmore Cottage by King Charles III.
The King was said to have made the decision to remove them from the Windsor property as there has been no thaw in their relationship with the Royal Family.
Frogmore Cottage has now been offered to Prince Andrew, it has been claimed.
A spokesperson for the Sussexes said last night: “We can confirm The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage.”
His Majesty’s decision was said to have come after the Duke of Sussex released his controversial memoir Spare in January, biographer Omid Scobie said.
The co-author of the book about Harry and Meghan Finding Freedom said the couple was told the property was needed for “someone else” and that relations between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the Firm was at “an all-time low”.
he explained: “It’s news, sources tell me, that has left Harry and Meghan stunned, and at least two members of the Royal Family ‘appalled’.”
He also adds that a source says Harry and Meghan have been given until the summer, after the Coronation, to remove their belongings after initially being told they would just be given two weeks.
And quotes a friend of the couple as saying: “It all feels very final and like a cruel punishment. It’s like [the family] want to cut them out of the picture for good.”
Harry made a number of damning allegations against his family, exposing many of the royals’ intimate secrets and private conversations to the public.
When he wasn’t speaking about his ‘frostbitten todger’ or name-dropping celebrities, Harry launched scathing attacks on his father, brother and step mother.
Referring to Charles as ‘Pa’ throughout, Harry said the King told his sons not to make his final years a misery.
During a chat after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, Harry also claimed Charles pleaded with his sons to stop fighting.
Harry claimed his father did not hug him on the night his mother, Princess Diana, died and made a joke to her when he was born – saying his work was done now he had an heir and a spare.
The King also reportedly jokingly questioned whether he was Harry’s father and made a joke in ‘poor taste’ about rumours James Hewitt is his real dad.
While any accounts of Charles having to reassure him Major Hewitt was not his dad are “invented”, according to Harry.
The Netflix star also alleged Charles and William were conspiring against him and didn’t understand him at all.
The late Queen gifted Frogmore Cottage to Harry and Meghan in the months after their wedding back in 2018.It was converted into one home, having previously been five separate properties for staff working on the Windsor Estate.
The whole renovation cost the £ 2.4million and the property is thought to have five bedrooms, a kitchen, a sitting room and a nursery first designed for Archie.
The Sussexes only lived in the cottage for six months before sensationally quitting as working royals and moving to California. They repaid the cost of the renovations.
Harry and Meghan had been expected to let the Frogmore Cottage lease expire after they left the UK for America, but they reportedly committed to a new 12-month rolling deal last April.
